Spring clean-up is slated for April 28 through May 1 in Jefferson. “Clean-up Week is a great time to get your home and yard ready for the summer months by disposing of leaves, old furniture and unsightly items lying around the property,” a city spokesperson said.
Pick up will be done in each neighborhood on the regular garbage day. Materials must be separated: metal with metal, wood with wood, garbage with garbage, yard waste, etc. If items are not sorted, they will not be picked up.
Tires or toxic waste will not be taken.
The first two loads (hoppers) of trash picked up at a property will be free, and no stickers are needed on yard waste bags during clean-up.
Amounts of trash beyond two hoppers will cost $25 per hopper and will be billed to the occupant of the property. Scrap metal and yard waste are separate items and are not counted towards the limits. There will continue to be charges for pickup up appliances and E-waste items.
Brush chipping: The week of April 28th is the first brush chipping week for the year. This is Jefferson’s spring clean up, so brush will be picked up on your regularly scheduled garbage day. Please have cut ends to the curb stacked neatly in arm load piles to ensure that the brush is picked up. No whole trees will be accepted.
